Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Full disclosure, this is my dad’s recipe. He also usually adds 2 tablespoons of Dutch process cocoa to the flour and makes double chocolate chip banana bread!

These make great muffins and mini muffins too, but our favourite way to make this is in a loaf pan. I use a 9.5″ x 5″ pan and I line it with parchment paper.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Quick and easy banana bread!

Servings 1 loaf (& a few muffins)


  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 7 tbsp butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 very ripe bananas
  • ½ cup chocolate chips


  • Preheat oven to 350F. Line a small loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • Whisk the flour and baking powder together.
  • Melt the butter.
  • Beat the eggs.
  • Mix all ingredients together and pour batter into lined loaf pan and bake for 1 hour. Check on it after 45 minutes with a butter knife. If the knife comes out clean, it's ready. If it comes out with some batter on it, check on it again in 10 minutes.
